If you are still following this, I am interested in Miltons from the East end, Poplar, Stepney area. My great Grandmother Mary Ann Salveson from Poplar married (1856) Thomas Milton, b Devon, 1816. As his younger brother Edmund b 1819 had moved to Poplar as an Oil& Colour Merchant, married and lived there for some time before moving to Lewisham, and the family seem to disappear from Devon between about 1830 and 1850, it could be that the whole family went to the Poplar, London area. Mary Anns mother was married in St George in the East, London. There may be a connection. Thomas and Mary Ann immediately after marriage emigrated to Australia.
