John Falconer Milne married his cousin Mary Edwards. Mary's mother Elizabeth was the sister of John's father, James.

Mary died in childbirth and the couple had no surviving children. Mary had various brothers and sisters who all emigrated from Scotland to Lewistown, Montana in the 1880's.
