There is some confusion about the Mills in Bond County. I believe the middle initial and Anson County NC information is new but has yet to be proved. I keep hoping for new information about pre-Bond County life, which could straighten out a lot of questions. Maybe Marshall County, MS will provide some answers. You mention "William and Mary PLANT MILLS listed with children as Andrew MILLS and Mary MASON MILLS". Do you know what documentation there is for this? I do know that the "History of Bond & Montgomery Counties IL 1882" refers to the family in the following way: [Page 85] "Space cannot be allowed to give further detailed history individually of "old settlers", but we will give a concise list of those whose names or faces are familiar to those who have lived in the county for the past forty years, with occasionally some repetition of previous mention:..." [Page 93] "MILLS, Jonathan and Thomas J., sons of Rev. William MILLS; former died in Texas." From this we get the clue that William was a minister, and that he had two sons. If Andrew was a son, why no mention of him? It is possible, but I haven't seen solid proof yet, that Mary Mason Mills was a daughter. James McCaslin bought land in 1836 in the same township where William first bought land in 1828, and where his son Jonathan bought adjoining land in 1836, so we know there were McCaslins nearby. I hope someone will eventually turn up birth or census records for William and Mary's children as they made the journey from NC to IL. Thanks for your reply! Notify Administrator about this message?
