Hello David,
I've had an update on my MILLS family and found that they do in fact originate from NYMPHSFIELD.
My link only extends back to Jeremiah M MILLS b.abt 1796 who married Sarah NEALE in 1836 in the NEALE family Parish of Owlpen, GLO.
Census records of 1841 places Jeremiah MILLS (45) as Head of the following household in Cock Mead End (possibly one word)in Owlpen District 1 ;
MILLS Sarah (25) Wife
MILLS Ann (15) Dau
MILLS Emanuel (13) Son
MILLS Hannah (11) Dau
MILLS Frederick (8) Son
MILLS Walter (5) Son
MILLS Eliza (2) Dau
Census records of 1861 place Jeremiah MILLS (64) in Nymphsfield and records his place of birth as Nymphsfield.
Census records of 1881 confirm Emanuel MILLS b.abt 1825 was born in Nymphsfield.
Census records of 1861 confirm Walter MILLS b.abt 1836 was born in Nymphsfield.
Census records of 1851 confirm Eliza MILLS b.1bt 1839 was born in Owlpen.
This may place the family of Jeremiah and Sarah MILLS in Nymphsfield until approximately 1837, thereafter in Owlpen, the Parish of the NEALE family.
I havent been able to locate Jeremiah or Sarah MILLS in 1851 as yet and by the time of the 1861 Census, as mentioned, Jeremiah is recorded as a Widw'r and lives with others including Charles NEALE aged 11.
I've located many other MILLS records including many born in Nymphsfield around the same time as Jeremiah MILLS but I haven't been able to make a connection.
Your family appears to be about 100 years to early for mine yet there are so many MILLS families in Nymphsfield I beleive Jeremiah MILLS must be a descendent of one of those you list.
Please let me know if you can place him.
Regards,
Lisa Sheppard (nee MILLS)
