I have read the message board with great interest and checked the Milliron Family Descendancy to see how the family was tied together. I have a few questions for the list. 1. Isn't it possible that Johann Jacob was married before Anna Otillia Christina ? The book of Fred. Krebs " Amerika-Auswanderer des 18. Jarhunderts" [ Emigrans to America in the 18th century] listed Johann Jacob Muhleissen, wife and child as emigrants. A fellow Thomas researcher located a marriage in 1746 of Johann Jacob Muhleissen to Margaretha Thomas in Pleizenhausen, Germany. Johann Jacob Muhleissen had repeated contact with Gerhard and Peter Thomas - also from Pleizenhausen - in Berks and Westmoreland County, PA. Peter and Gerhard Thomas had a sister named Maria Margaretha. Has anyone found/ checked for any evidence of a first wife and child? On the Milliron website I noticed that Johann Jacob's son, Johann Peter b. 22 Feb 1754 Berks County, Pa was not listed as a child. Was this omission because the child was not listed in the will of Jacob in 1786? Has anyone made a connection between John Muhleissen [ married Maria Eva Muller 1756] in Lancaster Co., PA and Johann Jacob? Both John and Jacob are listed in baptisms in the 1750's in the 1st Reformed Church. It would appear that they were contemporaries. Two Muhleissen men in the same church at the same time would seem to indicate a family relationship. As a long time German researcher I would like to comment that I do not believe that Christina was Anna Otillia's surname. Jacob and [un-named] wife sponsored two baptisms in 1767 in Berks Co, one for Conrad Wird and one for Michael Hommell - both of the children were named Christina. Children were named for their baptismal sponsors and here, the clear indication was that Jacob's wife went by the name Christina. She would not have given them her surname. For your further information, although the marriage of Johann Jacob Muhleissen took place in Pleizenhausen he was from the village of Risweiler. It was Margaretha Thomas who was from the village of Pleizenhausen. Additionally, there is another Muhleissen marriage in Pleizenhausen - 26 April 1746 - Johann Peter Muhleissen of Risweiler to Maria Christina Muller of Weydelbach. There were no parents named on either marriage. Would like to get your feed back. Suzy Notify Administrator about this message?
