A short biography of Elizabeth D. Milliken is included in "Montana, Its Story and Biography", Vol 3.

Elizabeth was born. Apr 1878, in Ayr, Dumfriesshire, Scotland, daughter of James B. and Elizabeth (Drysdale) Milliken, born 1849, Wick, Scotland, and 1851, Glasgow, Scotland, respectively. James learned the cabinet trade and came to the US in 1880, followed by his family in 1881. He was a contractor in Pittsburgh, PA, for some time, then located to Montana in 1912, and for several years was a rancher at Vergelle, Mt. He retired to Colorado. His wife, Elizabeth, died in Pennsylvania, 1892.

Elizabeth D. Milliken was educated in Bellevue, a suburb of Pittsburgh, PA, and taught in the rural schools of Allegheny County, PA, for approximately seven years before locating to Hamilton, MT, in 1909. She taught at Hamilton for two years, one year at Belt, four years at Fort Benton. In Nov 1916, she was elected county supt. of schools for Choteau County, and re-elected in 1918.
