JudyBoyers made the following reply to the same Mag on the Rockingham Co VA Board:
Samuel Miller was born 1753 and his father was the Rev. Alex. Miller, Presby. minister. Milo Custer's book was incorrect, I have a copy of his notes, book, etc.,and he planned on returning to this area to do further research but died before he could do so. Shirley Cullers Miller researched and wrote "Descendents of Rev. Alexander Miller, Pioneer of the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia" and as far as I know the book is still available. Alex. and Jane Miller had 4 children, John, Samuel, Isaac and Margaret. Samuel 'died before Aug 20 1811 when a guardian was appointed for his five youngest children'. 'Samuel's family Bible has been passed down to his oldest son Alexander Miller' and I now own it. 'Alexander, son of Samuel, wrote on the flyleaf that it was his Bible, but it records the dates of Samuel Miller's children. The dates in the Bible do not exactly match the birth dates on the tombstones of the children.''A deed dated Aug. 23, 1785 proves that John and Samuel were the sons of Rev. Alex. Miller'. 'Anna Braford Miller's father Samuel Braford was born in 1719 in Ireland, died April 21, 1789 in VA. His wife Ann Spotswood Braford was born in 1727 in VA and died Jan 20, 1795'. 'It is thought that Samuel and Anna are buried in the Old Cooks Creek Presby. Church graveyard, located where Silver Lake now stands at Dayton, VA. Samuel & Anna were both members of Cooks Creek Presby. Church according to the 1810 church records'. Samuel & Anna had 8 children.........
