Henry C. Miller (Mueller) from Hesse Darmstadt, Germany
I am looking for information on Henry C. Mueller, born in Hesse Darmstadt, Germany in 1848. He was the son of Conrad Mueller (born abt. 1801 and died 1876) and Anna (born abt. 1808 and died 1878). Henry was the second youngest of 8 children born to Conrad and Anna. I am trying to locate information on Henry and his family in Hesse-Darmstadt or the name of the town that Henry was from. In the United States, Henry belong to the Cumberland Presbyterian Church. Henry came to the United States at age 14 or 15 and settled at Portsmouth, Ohio to learn the shoemaking trade. He married Caroline M. Winkler of Wheelersbugh, Ohio in 1868. The family moved to Houston County, Tennessee about 1869 and remained there until 1882 when they moved to Van Buren, Crawford County, Arkansas. Henry died there in 1892. Henry and Caroline's children are Charley, Arthur, Lillie, Nina, Katie and Ruth. Henry was a Royal Arch Mason and a member of the A.O.U.W. Henry changed his name to Miller when he came to the United States.
Would appreciate any further information about this family. I am very interested in the town in Hesse-Darmstadt that Henry was from. Various records (census, ship passenger list, obituary, etc.), just lists Darmstadt or Hesse-Darmstadt.
Thanks,
