Hello Miller researchers,
I wrote the book, "Miller Time" in 2006 which included all research I had on the Crocus Creek family at that time. Early documentation for this family is sketchy, but I can say that this George Miller most certainly did NOT serve under Capt. Samuel Kearsley of PA as has been claimed. This fiction is easily disproved by Revolutionary pension records posted on HeritageQuest. I do believe that George did serve under Capt. Joseph Bowman. However, the NSDAR will NOT accept this service. The last known record shows George Miller deserted as of Aug. 1778.
No one knows for certain where George Miller was born or where he married. His wife Elizabeth may have been a Braxton, but the evidence is circumstantial.
I am a descendant of Adam Miller and his third wife, Jane Mason. They married in 1841 in Russell County, KY. After Adam's death, she married James W. Vermillion in 1854 and moved to Shelby County, IL where she died in 1898. There is no evidence that her name was ever "Young," though I have seen this claimed over and over again.
I hope this helps.
Tammy Wilson
