Julia-
Your MILLER line seems to be my MILLER line.Henry MILLER and Elizabeth LIVINGSTON are my 4th great grandparents.Around 1818-1820 they migrated to Sangamon Co, IL and settled in the part that is now Menard Co, near the present town of Petersburg.Henry died there in Aug-Sep 1847 and Elizabeth d.aft Feb 1858, still trying to sort out her husband's estate.
I have some information on Henry's brothers as well.If you tell me which you descend from I will be happy to share what I have on him.
As for George MILLER & Elizabeth (-------), I know very little.I know that in Sept-Oct 1832, the surviving children of George MILLER quitclaimed their interest in their father's property in Crocus Creek, Adair Co, KY to their brother Adam, he apparently being the only child who remained in KY.This property "being in the County of Adair and State of Kentucky containing by survey one hundred and twenty-seven acres be the same more or less being part of a 200 acre survey attended to our Father George Miller Deceased upon Green County Court Certificate No. 194 by a patent bearing date 10th February 1809..."
The above is a little confusing since Adair was formed from Green Co. in 1801, so a certificate dated 1809 should be from Adair Co., not Green Co.Also, my (undocumented) information holds that George MILLER was deceased before 1809 and would therefore not be receiving any land from the County or anyone else!
From another researcher I received the following (I do not have the original data):
1791 Tax List, Lincoln Co, KY:
Taxed in section 3, on 12 September:
George Sr., George, and John Miller. All three men are taxed under George Sr., who was taxed on one horse.
The rest is from my own research:
Clift, G. Glenn: "Second Census" of Kentucky, 1800. (Baltimore, MD, USA: Genealogical Publishing Co., 2005.) shows George MILLER was taxed in Green Co, KY in 1800 (no month or day listed) along with his sons John, Jacob and Christopher.
The 1802 ADAIR COUNTY, KENTUCKY TAX LIST (Transcribed by Sharon Bell: [email protected]) shows George MILLER "Sr." being taxed on 16 June for 100 acres on Crocus Creek. His household shows one male 21+ (George), one male 16+ (prob. Adam b.1784) and 0 slaves.
I have a note that George d.1803 in Crocus Creek, Adair Co, KY but have not confirmed that. However, Henry MILLER's marriage record from Adair Co, KY seems to confirm that George MILLER was deceased by Aug 1804:
"Henry Miller and Elizabeth Livingston. Henry son of Elizabeth who is widow of George Miller. Attest Elijah Livingston. Married 16 Aug 1804 by John White."
On 4 Feb 1805, Elizabeth MILLER, widow of George of Adair Co, KY, appointed John MILLER of Cumberland Co, KY as her Power of Attorney, they being the Executors of George's estate. ("Adair Co. Ky deeds" page 231.)
I've heard a couple of different theories as to where George MILLER came from. Some researchers claim that he was born in Fincastle Co, VA (which eventually became Green, then Adair Co, KY.)Another researcher I have come across claims George served in the Rev. War under Capt. Joseph BOWMAN and before 1780 was living in Lancaster, Lincoln (now Garrard) Co, KY, afterwards moving to Adair Co.
I've also been told by other researchers that Elizabeth's maiden name may have been BRAXTON but I have never received any proof for that.
I also know that (for reasons yet unknown to me) several of George & Elizabeth MILLER's children migrated from Adair Co, KY to Cumberland Co, KY between 1800 and 1810.The 1810 census for Burksville shows Adam, Christopher, Henry and John living there.Aaron, David & Jacob appear to have remained in Adair Co. until they moved to Illinois.
I don't know what else I have to offer you, but will be happy to share.
