Emma Terrell Broaddus is not in my own direct Broaddus line. I have to go all the way back to Edward Broaddus to find a common ancestor.
Here is what I have on Emma's Broaddus line;
1. Emma Terrell Broaddus, b. 27-FEB-1859 in Macon, Missouri, d. 13-MAR-1943 in Fayette, Missouri.
She married (1) John Malcom Miller, married 29-SEP-1880 in Glasgow, Missouri, b. 11-MAR-1855 in Missouri, d. 29-SEP-1890 in Boonville, Missouri.
She married (2) John James Jennings, married 12-AUG-1896 in Howard Co., Missouri, b. 11-JUN-1825 in Howard Co., Missouri, d. 23-DEC-1909 in Howard Co., Missouri.
She married (3) John Wheeler Coombe, married 02-MAY-1912, b. 06-JUN-1858, d. 09-JUL-1922 in Fayette, Missouri.
Parents
2. Burrell J. Broaddus, b. 1832 in Kentucky, d. ABT 1865.According to Burrell's grandson, John Franklin Miller, Burrell never returned from the Civil War. His name appears in two Randolph Co., Missouri deeds as well as in a Randolph County probate record in 1865 as Burrell J. Broaddus. In the 1860 census he is listed as B. J. Broaddus, age 28, married to Rebecca J.In November 1868, Emma and Dora Broaddus are named as (under 14 years of age, heirs of Burrel Broaddus dec'd" ("Will Records, 1818-1918 Missouri. Probate Court [Howard County], p. 310). He married Rebecca Jane Fields, married 30-MAR-1858 in Macon Co., Missouri.
3. Rebecca Jane Fields, b. 10-JUL-1840 in KY, d. 10-APR-1905, buried: in Howard Co., Missouri.She married (1) Burrell J. Broaddus, married 30-MAR-1858 in Macon Co., Missouri, b. 1832 in Kentucky, d. ABT 1865.She married (2) James Hudson, married 14-JUL-1868.
Grand Parents
4. Walter A. Broaddus, b. ABT 1807 in Caroline Co., Virginia, d. ABT 1856 in Randolph Co., Missouri.Walter and Jane's marriage is recorded in the Washington Co. Kentucky Marriage Book,p. 96. They were living in Todd Co., Kentucky in 1850, where he was a farmer.The 1850 census for Todd County lists the children of Walter and Jane as Samuel T., 21, Ben J., 18, Brownvill S., 8, Jane E., 6, Amanda M., 4, and Washington A., 1. The 1860 census for Randolph Co., Missouri lists under James Broaddus (apparently intended to be Jane, who was a widow by that time), lists the children at home as Eliza Jane, 18, N. A. (male), 12, M. L. (male), 9, and E. M. (female), 6.B. J. Broaddus, 28, who was married, lived next door.
In an 1869 lawsuit brought by Rebecca Broaddus (widow of Burrell) and H. M. Porter, the living heirs of Walter Broaddus were his widow, Jane E., daughters Eloise M. Hardister and Eliza Jane Mitchell, and sons Sheldrick, Bentley, and Fillmore. Burrell, deceased, is named as another son. J. T. Rothwell was Guardian ad litem for Fillmore and Eloise, who had not yet reached their majority. (Randolph Circuit Court Book F, pp. 464-465.) There are obvious difficulties in reconciling all these records, but apparently in the 1850 census Sheldrick is listed as Samuel, Burrell as Ben J., Bentley as Brownvill S., and Walter, Jr. as Washington A. He married Jane E. Campbell, married 08-MAY-1828 in Washington Co., Kentucky.
5. Jane E. Campbell, b. ABT 1810 in Virginia, d. 19-JUL-1871 in Randolph Co., Missouri.Jane was living with her daughter, Ellen, and her son-in-law, Francis Hardister, at the time of the 1870 census in Randolph Co., Missouri. She was a seamstress.
6. William C. Fields.He married Sally Cook.

32. Thomas Broaddus, b. ABT 1717 in Mathews Co., Virginia, d. MAY-1787 in Caroline Co., Virginia.Thomas is identified by Andrew Broaddus as the first child of Edward Broaddus, born in 1716 or 1717.This date is based on the tradition, recorded by Andrew in "The Broaddus Family," that Thomas "died suddenly at seventy years of age" (p. 27) and on the known fact that his death was in 1787 (will dated May 1787 and proved at Caroline June Court 1787).His name also appears, along with the names of his father and some of his brothers, in "A Merchant's Account Book, King and Queen County, Virginia, 1750-1751 (reprinted in "Magazine of Virginia Genealogy").Thomas very likely was Edward's second son, since there is good evidence that Richard was born by 1715 (see entry under Richard Broaddus). He married Ann Redd, married ABT 1748 in Virginia.

64. Edward Broaddus, b. ABT 1680 in Wales, d. ABT 1752 in King and Queen Co., Virginia.According to early family tradition, Edward emigrated from Wales about 1700 and settled on Gwynn's Island in Mathews Co., Virginia. This tradition can be traced to the 1830's to Andrew Sidney Broaddus (b. 1808), a great grandson of Edward who married one of Edward's great granddaughters, Martha (b. 1811).He obtained his information from his mother when she was old, and it has been passed down by another Andrew Broaddus in his family history, "The Broaddus Family," published in 1888 (p. viii). The date of Edward's birth has been a matter of considerable speculation. Andrew Broaddus in his family history says Edward died at "about the age of seventy" p. 26).He is known to have been alive, buying and selling, in 1750-51 ("A Merchant's Account Book, King and Queen County, Virginia, 1750-1751, "Magazine of Virginia Genealogy," Feb. 1990-Feb. 1991). Assuming he died shortly after this, he was born about 1680.
Andrew Broaddus states that Edward moved in 1715 to the part of King and Queen County that became Caroline County in 1727.However, in a patent issued to Edward in 1735, he is said to be "of King and Queen Co." (Patent Book 16, p. 481)(In this record he is called "Edward Broadhurst," but Orange Co. deed records [Book 18, p. 456; Book 19, p. 139] refer to this same land as having been "formerly the property of Edward Broaddus of King and Queen County.")Actually, Edward lived in a part of King and Queen County that was not added to Caroline County until the final border adjustment in 1762.There are also records that indicate Edward spent enough time in Orange County to improve the property as required in order to perfect title.(Patent Book 16, p.481; Deed Abstracts of Orange County, Virgina [1743-1749], pp. 39-40.) He married (1) Dollwyddelann (Dolly) Gwynn, married ABT 1713 in Virginia, b. ABT 1690, d. ABT 1721.He married (2) Mary Shipley, married ABT 1721 in Virginia, b. ABT 1700.
65. Dollwyddelann (Dolly) Gwynn, b. ABT 1690, d. ABT 1721.The source for Dollwyddelann's name is a manuscript quoted by Curtis and Vashti Evans in their own manuscript, "The Broadus Family," published in 1976 (p.6).The source cited was Richard Broadess of Thomasville, Georgia, who stated in 1852 that his father was Robert, his grandparents were Tabeetha and Thomas Broadess and his great grandparents were Dollwydellann Gwynn and Edward Broadess of Gwynn's Island in Virginia.The author apparently confused his grandfather with Edward's son, Thomas, who married Ann Redd.The probable explanation is that the author's father was Robert Broadus of Putnam Co., Georgia and knew Thomas, the son of Edward Oldham Broaddus, who went to Georgia (Caroline Land Plats, 1777-1805, lists Thomas as "of the State of Georgia" [dated December 1802]).This Thomas was the "Thomas Broddus," age 75, born in Virginia, listed in the 1850 census for Jasper County, Georgia (p. 132).Jasper County joins Putnam County, where Robert Broadus lived.(Robert was likely the son of a Thomas Brodess and grandson of Thomas Brodess of Dorcester Co., Maryland and a brother of Moses Broadus, born in Dorcester County in 1794 and later a resident of Mississippi.)
66. Thomas Redd, Jr., b. ABT 1710 in King and Queen Co., Virginia, d. ABT 1745 in King and Queen Co., Virginia.He married Elizabeth Barbee, married ABT 1730.
