>>THURSDAY, 5 NOV 1863<<
A BRUTAL MURDER - D.C. MILLER, proprietor of an omnibus line in Sacramento, was on Tuesday shot dead by one Andrew H. MERRILL. The only cause of the murder which MERRILL alleges, is that MILLER owed him $250 which he could not at that time pay. The shooting was done with a double-barreled shot gun, loaded with revolver bullets, and the shot took effect on Mr. MILLER's head, causing instant death.
