Hello Sherry!
Per 1860 census Washington County, IL, My James Miller m. Samantha Wright, b. 1847, d. of Joseph and Sarah b. Indiana. She and her younger brother and sister were b. Iowa.
James Miller was, per 1870 census of Jefferson County, Il
b. 1843 in Il, and d. after 1870 census. He served in Civil War on behalf of someone, discharged in Texas, and returned with health broken. He is b. at Mt. Olive Cemetery, Jefferson County, Il.James Miller named his son Benjamin F. Miller. The census taker wrote the initial for James's middle name the same as he did for Benjamin's middle name. However, the family has him under a military plaque for civil war service asMiller, James K.Co.K 42 Inf.IL.
Thank you very much for your post...when you're up against a brick wall, even knowing which James Miller is NOT your James Miller is a big help.
