Jane, I believe our Stephen Millard had a brother named Benjamin. They were from Palermo, Oswego, New York. Our Stephen went to Wisconsin about 1852, residing first in Sauk Co. then in Columbia Co.He married Mary Tuttle, dau. of Solomon Tuttle, who owned adjoining lands to Stephen in Columbia Co., DeKorra Twp.
One of their sons was named William Henry (Herbert???) Millard, b. 1850 in New York.He married ?? Martin, who died young, and then her sister, Hannah Frances Martin.
Because of the similarities of the Charles, William, Henry, and Stephen names, I wonder if a link exists here?My files are not readily handy, but I will drag them out soon.
My husband's paternal grandfather was named Stephen Clair (Calvin?) Millard, m. Rose Mae SLOGGY and farmed in DeKorra Twp.He was always called Steve, however. My husband is William Steve, our son is W. S. II, and his son, W. S. III.
I believe originally there was a Stephen who came from Croscombe, Somerset, Eng. in the 1700's which heads up our line.Possibly the spouse of Mary Foxwell.
Thanks for any comments or data.
