John Millar of Paisley, wed Mary Maxwell 1830s?

Does anyone have info about a John Millar from Paisley who married Mary Maxwell? My great-grandfather was their son, and was born in 1861, immigrated to Kearny, NJ in 1882 (?). Also: A letter from a Max Millar was found in his old homestead when his last bachelor son died in 1989. The letter was written in 1919, from this "Max" of Greenhill Road in Paisley. In the letter, Max refers to a sister, Susan, who went off to America, to live with a Mrs. Jarvie in Paterson, but came back, and died in Paisley, but Max didn't know she had returned. There was a "scandal" that he didn't attend his own sister's funeral, but the poor man didn't know where she was. The only other clue I have to who Max is is that his son was set up in his own business for a couple of years at the time of the letter, which also contained references to World War I being almost over. I have the letter in my possession, and would love to be able to tie it with lost family. Actually visited the address in 1990, but it's now a football field...

Any help most appreciated...
Kathy Millar
