Hello--
I just found this message as I was searching for my great-great-uncle's name.I don't believe Earl and Dora ever had children, but they did raise my grandmother, Lydia Gertrude Menges Butts.I recently found the family dictionary (yes, a line of teachers keeps a family dictionary instead of a Bible!), and I'll try to transcribe the very old script here:
"Ages of B. Milks and Dorcas Milks the wife of B. Milks also their children---
Benjamin Milks was born the twentieth day of July in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and ninety nine.
Dorcas Milks my wife was born the seventh of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seven--
and we was married the first day of May one thousand eight hundred and twenty five.
Waterberry S. Milks was born the eleventh day of August in the Year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred twenty eight.
Perry M. Milks was born the twenty third day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty.----
Harriet Mariah (?) Milks was born the twenty eighth day of October in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and thirty one.
Benjamin Franklin Milks was born on the third day of December 1833.
Dorcas Milks died on the twenty seventh day of April in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy nine being seventy two years of age.
Benjamin Milks died on the seventeenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy nine 80 years of age.
I don't know if this helps at all...
Taryn
