John Milbank of Carlow, Ireland

I am researching my husband's family tree and we have got back to John Milbank, a Farrier, of the 5th Royal Irish Lancers who was born in Carlow, County Carlow, Ireland in approx April 1840. His father was William Milbank, also a Farrier. John spent time in India and all over the UK in the army before retiring and becoming a blacksmith in Manchester. In 1883 we believe he was back in Ireland at Cloyne. He had five children John William b. 1883, Martha Anne b.1885, Sarah Jane b. 1887, Frances Elizabeth b. 1888 and May b.?. They later moved to Norwich, where he had met and married his wife, Martha, and where the family remained for many years.

Are any of you related to us. The family rumour is that although there was a link to Cork the family wasn't actually of Irish descent.
