I was just going through my files and found a little on Lewis Zachary Miksch, who was a brother of my great-grandfather, Harvey Joshua Miksch. A very distant relative sent me the following about this family: "Lewis Zachary Miksch, born in 1849, died in 1901 was one of the sons of Joshua Miksch, was married in 1875 to Lovine Pabst of Moravia, Appanoose County, Iowa. Her father, Jacob Pabst who married Barbara Winzler, were members of the Moravian group which settled and established the Moravian Church at Moravia, Iowa. A large number of the Pabst and Winzler families still live in Appanoose and Monroe County, Iowa. Lewis Zacary Miksch, after his marriage to Lovina Pabst, established his home at Grace Hill, Washington County, Iowa. Four children were born at this union. Three of them, Oliver O., Grace V., and Ruth L. were born at Grace Hill and were baptised in the Moravian Church. About 5 years after his marriage they moved with their small family by wagon, to Moravia, Iowa and about two years later founded the village of Udell, Appanoose County Iowa where he opened a small stor and was apointed Postmaster. Here another son was born, Leonard L. on November 29th, 1883." This is all of the information that I have on this family. Hope this helps. Carol
