Are you certain that John Mika remained in NY? I know of a John Mika born 1863 who died in an explosion at the Edgar Thompson Steel Works in Braddock PA in 1895. Sorry, that's all I know about him. This explosion happened on August 23, 1895. Maybe you can find a death certificate to check further?
