Ok, I am looking for additional information - that I can not seem to locate in the library or online. My great, great grand mother was named Jane "Connor" Middlebrooks (Connor was her SLAVE name) She was born in the year 1831 and died in 1935 She is born in Eufalla, AL (with an Unknown Cherokee name) in 1831 She died in 1935 and she buried in Eufalla, AL (graves have been moved since the man made lake was put in) along with her daughter - Martha "Middlebrooks" Palmer and son Isaac Abraham Middlebrooks Jr. Now, Jane's husband who was my great, great grand father - Isaac A. Middlebrooks Sr. was also a slave and of mixed race (white and black supposedly) More than likely, his Owner changed his name to reflect his name of Middlebrooks. Slavery was not abolished until 1865 SO, Jane WAS infact part of the "1936 Trail of Tears" despite what others post on this message board! Jane was very young and I do not have her birth mother or fathers name BUT I am told that he was one of the Cherokee Chiefs at that time. So, now I search for the slave owners who resided in Eufaula, OK in the 1800's. If you do not have any thing positive to say - then move onto another message board. My search continues....
