Thomas Preston Middlerooks and Lucille Nard

I'm just beginning my family history. I was wondering if any of these names sound familiar to anyone?

Herschel Thomas Middlebrooks (my dad) born in Farmington, GA in 1937. His parents were Thomas Preston and Anna Lucille Nard.

Herschel's brothers are Jerry and the late Charles Middlebrooks. (late brother lived in Talmo)

Does anyone have any advice or does this sound familiar? Where should I go to start a good search?
