I live in the Chicago land area and my dad told me that he knew that his gg-grandfather was Nicholas Michels - that is my dad's name as well (Nicholas Peter Michels b.1949). My grandfathers name was Frank (Francis) Michels b.1905 d.1988? married Antoinette (sp) b. 1907 d.1998 and I know that they both grew up in Chicago and lived there after they were married. I have to get back into the books to find out exact names, etc but I think we might know some of the same people.
I was really impressed with Germany's way of pronouncing the name. I heard the same thing from my dad and acually we pronounce it Michaels (But I think the A is more present because of my Chicago accent) Anyway, Please let me know if you know of any other info - my e-mail is email@example.com
