This was a (clumsy) hypothesis formulated in Bergeron's Grand Arrangement des Acadiens au Québec.

There is no proof of this though, and in fact when you look into Stephen White's recent (and more serious) Acadian dictionary, you see that this would be nearly impossible, given that the two couples married only 9 to 15 years apart.

My grandma was a Michel dit Bécot by the way!
