I could be related to Dan Toban (I really don't know). My mother was born and raised in Pomeroy, Ohio. (I was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio and now I live in Michigan.) My mother's father's mother was Matilda Toban (Carman). My mother's parents names were Elizabeth Ralph and Harry Carman. My mother had a sister, Harriet Elizabeth (Betty) Carman (Evans) who lived her entire life in Pomeroy. My cousin Janice Evans still lives in Pomeroy.
After I wrote you I did some checking and I think that your great grandfather John and my great, great grandmother Barbara could have been brother and sister. I have used the Morman web page which is I click on the word SEARCH and when that page comes up I type in the name Stephen Ralph and scroll down the countries to USA and the state to Ohio. When that page comes up, I scroll down the page until I get to 1850 Meigs Co. Census and I click on that. When that page comes up, I click on the word Census where it says Return to Census page. When that page comes up, I click on Scipio Twp. in the 1850 census. When that page comes up I scroll down to 057 32 0429 which is Paul Michael. It lists him as being 26 yrs. old, Catherine as being 20 yrs. old (I hope that she was older, I've found some other names where the ages were not correct), James? as being 6 yrs. old, Nicholas as being 4 yrs. old, John as being 3 yrs. old, and Barbara as being 1 yr. old.
I hope that some of this can help you. Mary Taylor
