John, if you wish to trace the Michael family backward from Lincoln Co., TN be sure to trace the Waggoner family. Both families lived in Rowan county, NC, later Davidson Co, on Abbotts Creek.

Jacob Waggoner, the immigrant ancestor was born in Germany in 1717 and died in what is now Davidson Co., NC 1799. He was a german who immigrated from the Palatinate region in southwest Germany as is believed the same for the Rowan County (Davidson Co.,) Michael group. He came to America around 1754. He had children: Daniel born 1746, John, Jacob Jr. born abt. 1754, Joseph, David born 1762, Elizabeth born 1753 and Mary.

Jacob Waggoner Jr. had a son Daniel who married Eva Lopp. They moved to Lincoln Co., TN. Their first land transactions there was in 1822. His oldest daughter Catharine, born Feb 3, 1796 in Rowan Co., NC. On Feb. 10, 1816 she married George Henry Michael. George and Catharine sold their land in NC and moved to Lincoln Co, TN to be near Catharine"s parents. They are in the 1830 census of Lincoln Co., TN.

I have a copy of the will of Daniel Waggoner dated Dec 14, 1833.

Coy Michael
