Dear Karen,

I am a descendant of Casper Michael. I don't have much on Casper; in fact I had only 4 of his children listed, though I knew he had more. I have a little more on his son Jared who I am descended from. I had never heard that Casper had been married before.

Jared Michael, b. Oct. 9, 1792 in Morgantown, Monongahela Co., VA (now WV)
d. Oct 26, 1873 near Brownsville, Linn Co., OR. Buried in Michaels Cemetery near Brownsville, Linn Co., OR.
Married Dec. 23, 1815 to Mary Kelso b. April 22, 1796 in VA. d. 1873 near Brownsville, Linn Co., OR. Buried in Michaels Cemetery near Brownsville, Linn Co., OR.

Some stories handed down are:
Jared was a woodsman and hunter
He killed a large bear with a tomahawk for attacking his favorite hound.
In 1846 he started to Oregon. He spent the winter in Missouri.
May 1, 1847 he left for Oregon in a large wagon train. He made it in 6 months.
Arrived in Oregon Territory Oct. 7, 1847.
Settled 3 miles SW of Brownsville, Oregon

I have 11 children listed for them. If you would like to have that info I will send it to you.

Do you have more info on Mary Kelso? You mentioned she was a younger stepsister to John Bennet.

Eleanor (Michael) Stone
