Michael won the nations highest military award, the Congressional Medal of Honor.Lt. Michael,son of Mr. and Mrs. Plomer Michael, route 1, Milford was killed March 13, 1945, his 23rd birthday. He served with distinction.While leading his 80th infantry division platoon, the war department reported, Lt. Michael, in an assault on a forest ridge near Neiderzerf, Germany, was responsible for the capturing of 70 Germans, the liberation of 2 American prisoners,and the silencing of a row of enemy pill-boxes and 2 machine gun nests before he was felled.Betty-Miami Co.,IN. researcher
