Karen - thanks for the quick response. I found a lot of information on Clyde Senger's site:
Including the following "gold country" reference:
Elijah Grant MICHAEL, son of Jared MICHAEL and Mary (KELSO), born 23 March 1833, Decatur or White Co., Indiana, died 22 () Oct 1902, Spokane Washington (ees). He is reported to have walked barefoot most of the way from Missouri to Oregon driving two yoke of oxen. He went to California gold fields at age 18 (1851?) but was robbed by a partner and returned in debt. After marriage, he lived 3 miles south of Harrisburg, Oregon, D.L.C. 1551, Roseburg. then returned to the Jared Michael donation land claim. He entered the ministry of the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1868 and served as a circuit rider in parts of the Willamette Valley and southern Oregon for 33 years. He married 26 (mi) or 24 or 20 Oct 1853, Linn Co., Oregon (mi), Marena Ann SMITH, dau of Elijah E. SMITH (who died on the plains 1852), born ca 1838, Illinois.
I wonder, can you email me a contact for Tom Cady so I might track down this reunion book?
