Joe-The specific info on Jared traveling to 'gold country' came from the Michael Book that i was sent a copy of prox two + years ago from Tom Cady after they had had their reunion in Oregon. Because there were no Motel 6's in those days, I believe he stayed with relatives. One would have been Casper Bennett. Casper was his step-nephew or son of John Bennet & Catharine Michael. I have not been able to locate much on the early days of Casper's life in El Dorado Co, CA prox 1850-1860. However, I have been off my research of this branch of my family for a couple of years. Let me know how I can help. K
