Roxy M. Clements...........
I am looking to find some information on Roxy M. Clements, originally of Saratoga County, New York, born there in 1809. She married Henry H. Haynor, also of Saratoga, in Saratoga in January of 1824. Henry, Roxy, and children Tobias, Isaac, Catherine, and Charles came to Ionia County, Michigan in 1838.
Roxy had supposedly had some relatives in the Livingston/Washtenaw County area. Moses Clements and Ferris Clements were handed down as nephews. She may also have been the daughter of Albert Clements of Victory Mills, Saratoga, New York.
Abram Haynor, (spelling varies, father of Henry) has been handed down to me as being born in Alsace-Lorraine, France sometime around 1765. He may or may not have been taken prisoner by the Germans during a war?? I'm aware that Alsace-Lorraine was a much contested area between France and Germany at that time, so maybe that is what was meant by "war"?
It is also handed down that he came to America as, or became, a Hessian soldier during the time of the American Revolutionary War.....that he was thus considered a hired soldier for England, and when the United States won the war he was sent to a prison North of Syracuse, New York, being released after about six months. What IS apparent is that one way or another he came to the United States, at least by, if not earlier than, about 1792, as one of his sons, Henry, (father of Tobias and Isaac) was born in New York State about 1793, seemingly in the Saratoga/Victory Mills area of New York. It is said that Abram had several children, as far as I know all boys.
Does anyone have any leads I might follow, or have a trace of Roxy M. Clements (Haynor) that I can follow?
