My gr gr grandfather, Smith Thompson, has listed on his death record, father, Robert Thompson and mother Thresa Lockwood. His brother Joseph's death record has listed Robert Thompson and Clarissa Lockwood. I know that the records are only as accurate as the person giving the information.
The family lived in Oakland Co. MI prior to moving to Cass Co. They are listed in the 1850 Highland, Oakland Co census. Robert, Cloresa, Tolly (Polly?), Sarah, Joseph, Smith and Ellen Thompson. In 1860, Joseph and wife M.J. are living next door to Robert, Smith and Ellen, in Cass Co. The 1870 census shows, Robert living with Joseph, Mary J. and their son Perry, in Decatur, VanBuren Co.
Smith is in Volinia, Cass Co w/ wife Harriet (Huff) and son Frederick.
A couple of years ago, while researching my HUFF line, I came across a stone in Anderson Cemetery, Decatur, VanBuren Co, that reads, Surrissa, wife of Robert Thompson. Numbers are badly worn but look like, Oct. 22, 1852. Today in an index for the Highland, Oakland Co, Cemetery (back where this family was in 1850) I found a Syrsia Lockwood, who married a _______Thompson. Because of the instructions in the index (US GenWeb site), I'm assuming that because it isn't an underlined name, and there isn't an astrik by it, she isn't buried there. Coincidence that I located Surrissa wife of Robert Thompson?
Where would be a good place to start in VanBuren Co? I don't know where Robert ended up. He lived till after the 1870 census.
