Hello... The 1900 Census shows Lewis Bock (age 32) with wife Kate, and Pauline (Daughter), Cathrine (or Catherine?) (Mother), Lena (Sister), Dora (Sister) and George (Brother). Of interest to your question, the census shows Lewis's parents as having been born in Germany, and as you know Kate's parents were born in Switzerland. Cathrine (his mother) is shown as having been born in April 1831, and as being widowed. All the children are showing as having been born in Michigan, which will help with prior Census dates. Going back, you are probably aware that the 1890 Census was destroyed almost in its entirety in a fire, and what was left was destroyed in the 1920's by the US government. So, on back to 1880... where searching on Ancestry.com census records turns up little information. The 1880 Census is free there, so you might take a little more time to search. The 1870 census also turns up little help as well where the combination of birthplace (Michigan) with birth date of approximately 1868 for Lewis, did not return a close match with his combination. Still, he was b. in Michigan according to the 1900 Census, and that could give you a lead. Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you. All the best.
