In the 1930 census Roy and Bertha are living in St Clair County with 2 sons: Harvey R and Howard R ages 9 and 5 and it appears that by Bertha's account she came to the US in l922...and she listed herself as well as both her parents as being born in Canada.

Have you access to the l901 Canadian Census for Haldimand County...if that Philip Gilson married in the early l890's then Annie May(3) Nichols must have lived in that area as well..or would presume at first...there is a Annie E. Nichols living in Haldimand at that time as well..perhaps the enumerator mis-interrupted her middle name?

Back to the 1930 census...it also appears that Bertha was married at the age of 17 in l920? As she lists her age as 27 in 1930.

Some of my ancestors were of Applegate as well..Mary Rose Corneil (nee Graham) and her husband Gideon Corneil..and Rose's parents Nathaniel/Rose Graham (nee Gordon). They lived on Phipps Rd.

Best to you,
Michelle
