I think I may have found her! Although, her name wasn't Howard. It was Ransbottom. Does that ring any bells? Here's what the obit says: Amanda Cathern Ransbottom, 79, died Sunday night at the hme of her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Young Ransbottom, in Elkhart where she had been visiting for three weeks. The body will be removed to the Balch Funeral Home today and friends will be received beginning Tuesday night until time of service at ten thirty Thursday. She was born in Palestine, Ind., Nov. 21, 1866 and had resided in Three Rivers for 23 years. She was first married to John N. Young who preceded her in death and was later married to Charles B. Ransbottom who died in 1941. Surviving are her daughter, four sons, Raymond Young of Willow Hill, Ill., Don Young of Robinson, Ill., Jesse Young of West Milton, Oh.,Samuel Young of Elkhart, four step sons, Clyde Ransbottom, and Cornelius Ransbottom of Moorepark, Cecil Ransbottom of Three Rivers and Clare Ransbottom of Elkhart. That was in Three Rivers Commercial 3 Dec 1945.
Then on 4 Dec 1945 there was this mention: Services will be held for Amanda C. Ransbottom, who died Sunday at the First Baptist Church, Thursday morning at ten thirty o'clock, with Rev. R.D. Eaton officiating. Burial will be made in Riverside Cemetery.
If you want, I can mail you copies. They didn't come out real good, but I think you can read them okay.
Let me know where you want to go from here. Since she died in Elkhart, that's where her death certificate will be. I find it odd that there is no mention of Thomas Howard, don't you?
Awaiting your reply....
