Patrick Kearney(b. abt. 1829 IRE) and his wife Mary (b. abt. 1819 IRE) came to Canada just before the famine -- 1844. They had two children in Canada:
Patrick Kearney b. 1846 (my great great grandfather)
Thomas Kearney b. 1848
By 1860 the Kearney family lived in Port Huron, St. Clair, MI. They were neighbors to the Patrick Duffy family:
Patrick Duffy b. 1820 IRE
Mary Duffy b. 1810 IRE
Mary Duffy b. 1845 Canada (my great, great grandmother)
Michael Duffy b. 1847 Canada
Patrick Duffy b. 1849 Canada
Patrick Kearney, the son, married Mary Duffy, the daughter. Patrick was a sailor on the Great Lakes. By 1875-1879, Patrick and Mary were in Chicago where their daughter, Mary Ann Kearney (b. 1879-1880 Chicago) was born.
Any information on these people would be so appreciated. I wonder where in IRE they came from; which Canadian port they came to: Quebec or New Brunswick? What did they do for a living in Port Huron?
