Well, well! I haven't a clue as to how I crossed paths with
your search but I believe I can help. Captain Honner was my
grandfather. He was married to Elizabeth Duffy (called
"Eans" by her children, for an unknown reason!). I don't know much about her other than that she was from Milwaukee and was apparently very domineering. This from her daughter-in-law, my mother? She passed in 1931 in Kenosha,Wi. Their children were Thomas Austin Honner(b.1896-d.1959), Doris Honner(b.1898-d.1966ish), Ben Honner
Tom married Ann Lipp of Racine,WI. in 1931 and had one son,
me, in 1932. Doris married Hal Young of Kenosha, WI. in the
early 30's- no children. Ben married Mae Koll of Hibbing,
MN. in the early 30's and had one child Patricia, in 1935 or '36.
Now, here's the rub! I haven't the foggiest idea why my
father was born "Honner" and my born name is "Honore". If
you have any clue in your research I'd sure like to know about it. I have little documentary evidence other than reportage of the Ira H.Owen wreck, the Captain's memorial service and his citizenship papers. All of which I could copy for you, if you wish.
I would love to talk to you further about this.
Your amazed cousin,
Tom Honore firstname.lastname@example.org
