EMMA JANE WRIGHT, eldest daughter of WM. and JANE MADISON WRIGHT was born in Springwater, New York, January 19, 1843 . At the age of seven years, she with her parents and two brothers moved to Grand Rapids where they lived, until the age of fifteen years, her parents moved to Ch???? Township, Ottawa county.
She was united in marriage to WM. H. DEAVENPORT of Big Springs, on January 17, 1867. To this union four children were born-ELMER, who lives on the old homestead; FREDDIE, who died in infancy; MERRILL of Spring Lake; and Mrs. C.F. BENTON of Ravenna, with whom she had made her home for the last fourteen years.
She united with the Free Will Baptist Church in Big Springs and late transferred her membership to the Congregational Church in Conklin. After a lingering illness of which she was never heard to complain or murmur, she passed peacefully away October 21, 1921, at the age of seventy-eight years, nine months and two days, leaving to mourn two sons, one daughter, six grandchildren, four sisters and three brothers, besides a host of other relatives and friends. Her husband preceded her to the home eternal in 1905. Funeral services were conducted in the Congregational Church in Conklin, assisted by Rev. BROWN and Rev. DAVIES of Conklin. Interment in Ravenna cemetery.
