Hello there,
I saw your information on and I am helping my mother research our great, great grandfather, William Martin Castle and his children. We know he ran away from home and during his travels he moved to Canada and worked in logging camps up there. We discovered he met and we believe married a woman by the name of Jessie (?). They had a daughter Mary Ann and eventually moved to Michigan. He had relatives in Oakland and Ottawa County. They show up in the 1860 census in Oakland County. He served in the Civil War in Michigan but when he got out he moved to Ohio. His daughter Mary Ann shows in the 1870 census as a domestic servant with no mention of Jessie.
William served in the Civil War in Ohio also. There is record of his sending his pension to a post office box in Michigan but we are not sure who he sent it to.
Over the years his name has appeared in the Ohio census with hi last name being spelled Cassill/Cassell so to make a long story short(?) we were wondering if you had any information about Mary Ann's parents? Any leads would be appreciated. My mother lives in Ohio and recently had surgery, which will require a lengthy recovery period. So her par tin the research is limited. So I am rtying to help as much as I can from my end in Michigan. Thanks for nay information you might be willing to impart.
