Would like to know names of Gardener's parents.
Notes at West Point say his guardian was Rev. C. Vander Menlen (Cornelius Vander Meulen, who founded of Zeeland).

Obituary published by West Point say he was born in Netherland, 1849 and his father was one of the first Holland clergyman. Family came over around 1852... throught the death of his father, Gardener was left an orphan at age 6..

Gardner died in 1921, interrment at Arlington (cremation).
He was survivied by his widow, Bessie Patton Gardener, three daughters, Misses Barenedina and Martha, and Mrs. E. M. Sargent of Kalamozoo, MI.. and two sons, Allen W. Gardener of LA and Maj. Frederick A. Gardener, USMC.

Would anyone have info on his parents/family.

Tks in advance,
Sheilah
