p.25, Vol. I of Oceana Co. History
under "The Village of Pentwater"
"A new brick school was constructed in 1862, being used about 90 years until it was closed".
If you were able to go to Hart, Oceana County, Michigan's Historical Society, you would find in their building a room dedicated to the schools in Oceana County. They have old books dating way back which include the students names and their attendance. They also have old year books and much more. It would be well worth your while to visit or call them. The are such a hard working group and are more than happy to help people. They also make & send copies for a small fee. Good Luck
