This I know-(back ground information leading up to the mystery.)
In the 1850 Highland, Oakland Co census, Robert Thompson and wife Cloresa have these children: Polly, Sarah, Joseph, Smith and Ellen. In 1860 Robert, Joseph, Smith and Ellen are living in Cass Co. MI.
Cloresa, was born a LOCKWOOD. I know this because she's listed on both of her son's death records, as Clarissa Lockwood and Tresa Lockwood. I found information from another LOCKWOOD researcher, who has posted her father's will-and she's shown as Surissa and Syrsia (in the same document) and married to a _______ Thompson.
There's more-just a few short miles from the homes of Robert, Joseph and Smith, in Cass County, is the Anderson Cemetery, just over the county line, in Van Buren Co. with a stone that reads, Surrissa, wife of Robert Thomson. d. Oct. 22, 1852.
I reasonably believe that this is one in the same person.
What I'm now looking for suggestions or help with, is trying to locate their daughter Polly. Surrissa's (as I refer to her as),
mother was Abigail Polly Knapp Lockwood. The LOCKWOOD family is very large in Oakland Co. Hence, the name Polly.
Now-in the 1860 census, for Highland, Oakland Co. living next to/near a whole bunch of LOCKWOODs is a Polly ANTON, about the right age to be Polly THOMPSON, who's grandparents were LOCKWOODs. Her husband is William, age 38, children are:
(Illigible) Anton, age 8 male, b. PA, (Starts with a J ends Y.)
Frank Anton, age 4 male b. MI
George Anton, age 2 male b. MI.
It's possible that the 8 year old male isn't Polly's child? being born in PA. I checked the 1850 census in PA and found a William b. in Germany, way too old to be this one. I checked the NY 1850 census, no William is listed. There is one in St. Joseph Co (next to Cass Co.), in the 1850 census, but he's 24 and not 28 as he should be, if his age in the 1860 census is correct. Can't rule him out completely.
Because she would have married William, probably 1850-52, it's possible that she didn't go to Cass County, when her parents and siblings moved there.
Does any of the Oakland County rearchers know anything about this ANTON family? Michigan didn't start keeping marriage records till 1867, but does anyone know if there's records for Oakland County, church records or family records?
