Glad to hear from you! That would make sense about Polly being born in CT - because we believe that Asa's father was named John, who was a son of the Rev John Owen, of Groton, CT. The preacher's son's name was John, and we suspected it was him for a long time, but there is no information on him to be found, only that he was born to his father, the "Rev John Owen of Groton, CT," who is listed in tons of documents and CT marriage records (as the minister performing the marriage vows).
I have more info on the Decker's of NY, but I am not sure if it is accurate. Based on the will you sent me, what I have is not all that accurate, unless there was more than one Jesse Decker. This attachment lists an Aaron Decker and Charity Owen as Jesse's parents:
AARON9 DECKER (Charity8Owen, Ebenezer7, Jonathan6, George5, Richard4, Edward3, David2, David1) was born at Bedford, Westchester Co., NY. He married Phoebe Knapp, daughter of Samuel Knapp.
Children of Aaron9 Decker and Phoebe Knapp were as follows:
179. i. JESSE10, b. between 1790 and 1800.
180. ii. ANNA MARIA, b. 1823 at Warwick, Orange Co., NY; m. Edward Bronson.
iii. SAMUEL.
Another Decker-Owen connection is a Jesse K. (Knapp?) Decker, as a witness to Isreal Owen's will:
ISREAL8 OWEN was born circa 1749 at Goshen, Orange Co., NY. He died on 30 Apr 1814 at Warwick, Orange Co., NY.
He ISREAL OWEN of Township of Warwick Liber E Page 209. Will made 4/22/1814 Probated 5/10/1814
mentions wife, name not stated. Sons: William, Thomas. Daughters: Sally, Betsey, Ester, Margaret
Executors: Robert Farrier, William Owen Witnesses: Jesse K. Decker, Anna Oldfield, Thomas Farrier.
