Hi!
I believe I can help. The Duncan side of my family (my great-grandmother was a Duncan) originated in Scotland and emigrated here in the United States, eventually settling in the Oakland County area. My great-grandmother's father was Erskine Duncan and Erskine's father was John Duncan.John and his four brothers, Archibald, Francis, Robert, and James, along with their father, all emigrated to the United States. James didn't stay long as he left for Australia in the 1850s. The brothers were all born somewhere between 1800 and 1805 (exact dates aren't known). John became a naturalized citizen on April 14, 1840 in Superior Court in New York City.He married his wife Mary Adams in Cohoes, New York. Her father, William, was a witness at James' naturalization hearing. The story goes on.I am excited to have found another branch of the family. I have always wondered what happened to John's brothers. Please contact me! You can reach me by e-mail at [email protected].
