William Miller was granted a land patent for a homestead of 160 acres in Ferris Twp, Montcalm County in 1871. By the time of the 1897 plat map, this property is listed as "Non Resident".

John Ruperd was granted a land patent for a homestead of 160 acres in Ferris Twp, Montcalm County in 1870. 40 acres of this property was still owned by a Rupert on the 1897 plat map.

There is another 40 acres owned by an "A. Rupert" just to the north.

Have you checked any land records to try to track them?
I'm also interested as my relatives came to Ferris Twp from northwest Ohio (Defiance Co.) in the 1870's.
I'm happy to share any info I may have available. You can reply here or e-mail me direct at michstory@yahoo.com.

Best of luck,
Jason Wallace
