The name that seems to pop up in Monroe County, Michigan is either Rheaume or Reaume. There is a Joseph Reaume in Monroe County, Michigan (Frenchtown) who was the son of Jean Baptiste Reaume.Theirancestry goes back to Jean Reaume of France and of Rene Reaume son of the above Jean Reaume who was born in France and then came to and married in Quebec.
The Joseph Reaume of Monroe County, Michigan was born in Essex County, Ontario Canada. His father was a speculater of lands and received lands in Monroe County (Frenchtown Personal Claim #81) around l792/93.Joseph's father died around l807 and the lands were involved in the Battle at River Raisin in Frenchtown, Michigan (Monroe County). This battle was one of the notable ones during the War of l812.There is much information at the Historical Society in Monroe. You should check them out!
There is also much information in set of books entitled "Dennison" Genealogies of French Families. Also worthwhile checking out, they are very good in helping is the "Marsh Collection" which is located in Amherstburg, Essex County, Ontario Canada.
