Rachel, We have copies of the Midland Sun from Sep 28,1911 (the arrest) and Nov 23, 1911 (the trial). The paper is an old defunct paper that was only published on Thursdays - luckily it is all on microfiche at the Dow Library in Midland. We're working on getting copies of the trial because all old Circuit Court records are kept by the Midland County Historical Society. We've been there twice and the Curator has been out; however, her assistant did find the trial information in the ledger but couldn't locate the box that contained the actual trial documents: "THE PEOPLE OF THE STATE OF MICHIGAN VS JOSIAH JONES" Prosecuting Attorney Myron J. Gere Oct 13 Justice return filed Oct 19 Note of Issue filed Nov 20 Information of Rape filed Nov 20 Plea of Not Guilty entered Nov 20 Jury trial verdict of guilty of assault with intent to ravish Nov 20 Sentenced to 2 to 10 years at Jackson Nov 20 Warrant for removal made and handed to Sheriff Nov 25 Warrant for removal of prisoner to Michigan State Prison We should be able to get the trial copies soon...by the way, we aren't pros! Just folks who've been helped a LOT by others over the years. Be glad to get you the information so unless there's some huge hidden charge, don't worry about that! Please send your address by e-mail. Have a great day! Notify Administrator about this message?
