Pierce B. Bissell was said to have been born in Michigan in approx. 1816-1817. His parents may have been originally been from New York and before that Vermont. We are seeking his parents and sibblings and place of birth. Pierce owned land in Rock Island Co, Illinois by 1840 though he does not show up in the census under his own name. By the 1850 census, he is shown listed with his wife Sarah...and said he was born in Michigan. He may have been the son of one of brothers, Martin, John, Benjamin, Noah, Edgar B., Aaron and possibly others from out of Vermont and New York.
