Orphan Girl south of Jackson in 1942

My grandmother is now 72 years old. Lately, she has mentioned working in an orphanage south of Jackson, MI when she was 16 years old (1942). She has told me, more than once, of a story of a 3 1/2 yr. old girl that was there since the day she was born. Grandma says that she looked like a china doll with beautiful blue eyes. She use to take her out, and some doctors, that knew my grandmother, asked if the girl was up for adoption. The doctors had some lawyer friends that adopted the little girl. Grandma didn't keep in touch, because she wanted to let the girl have a new life. She was invited to the girls graduation, and wedding, but never went. She no longer remembers the girls name, and we may never find the invitations. The woman would now be nearing 60 years old.....If anyone knows of this story, or the lady, and if she'd like to get in contact with my grandmother, please inform me.
Thank you.
