Bigamy Trial
Posted by: Sheila Tyler Houvener (ID *****5762) Date: June 21, 2013 at 10:49:21

Hi I live in Minnesota so it's not possible to get to St. Joseph County. Hoping someone can help me.

I'm seeking court records for family member Mary Johnson-Wood on the charge of bigamy. The trial ran in September of 1927. Her "husband" Arthur Woods hung himself before her trial. This trial was a big scandal and was in many of the papers at the time. Trying to verify disposition of sentence, etc. We've found several newspaper articles, however they have contradicting information. I wonder if someone could check court records for me or if anyone knows about this?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks so much!

Sheila
