Re: Family of Joseph Cassaty(Cassady,Cassidy,Cassade)
Hello Carolyn:I have the information, that you found on my family tree. I am currently trying to find the correct spelling of the last name and Joseph's parents and siblings. I have searched census records for Illinois, Indiana, Michigan etc and have not found his family. My father, Walter Cassidy, talked about his father and uncle working in the lumber camps of Michigan. I also have gone thru immigration records looking for their entry into the USA.I don't believe that Cassidy (and all the current spellings) is the correct name. On his tombstone, in Mt. Olivet Cemetary, the name is spelled "Cassade", the two children, Arthur & Maria's last name's are spelled Cassaty.
Joseph supposedly entered this country in 1866,at the age of 2 or 4 (depending on which record your looking at) and I must assume that the entire family came at the same time.
I would look internationally if I had a clue as to the last name or the town/village they came from...
Thank you for your effort and attempt to help. I truly do not know were to look next. Thanks again,Norah Leonard
